Architecture

One of the astonishing aspects of  Malaysia is its unique architecture. Examples of interesting buildings in Malaysia are as follows :
Kota A Famosa  at Malacca
Istana Kenangan in Kuala Kangsar, Perak

Istana Seri Menanti at Negeri Sembilan
The first picture is a picture of Kota A Famosa. The fort was built by the Portuguese army led by Afonso Di Albuqueque when invading Malacca. This building was the headquarters of the city when the Portuguese conquered Malacca at the time. During the period of colonization by the Dutch, a great amount of the fort have been demolished and only the city gates remains.

The second picture is Istana Kenangan, better known as the Palace of Memories. The Royal Palace was built by order of D.Y.M.M. Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Shah ( Marhum Kaddasallah ) as a temporary habitation, because Istana Iskandariah was still under construction replacing the National Palace. Today, it houses the Royal Museum of Perak.

The third and final picture is a picture of Istana Seri Menanti. This palace is a timber palace constructed between 1902 to 1908. What makes this palace different from the rest? Actually, this four-storey building was constructed without using any nails. Hardwood rods were used to replace nails to piece the timber together. Today, the palace has been turned into a royal museum.
